We’ve been so fortunate to have spent the past few summer holidays in Nice, France. Due to other priorities, we decided on taking a beach holiday closer to home this summer. August, Southern California, what could be better for a sunny week at a beach! Of course we decided on San Diego. We stayed in Ocean Beach. Since we did not want to rent a car, this was the perfect place to be. Two blocks from the beach and walking distance to everything we needed. We took two Ubers to have dinner in the Gaslamp District, at Parfait Paris, and to the Hillcrest neighborhood to have lunch at Bread & Cie (European Cafe and Bakery) and to pick out beach reads at Bluestocking Books. Ok, I googled French Cafes, San Diego, and found too many to visit in our week stay! Within the first few days of our holiday, I realized similar vibes to our holidays in Nice, France. The warm (heat wave hot) weather, sunshine, beach, outdoor cafes, walkable and vibrant night live, all felt a bit like Nice and the French Riviera. I’m sharing some vibrant photos that evoked a French Riviera feel. Check out my previous posts with amazing photos of Nice and the Riviera.
Vibrant hues line the streets.
Cafes, shops and sweets.
Market night and quite fabulous.
Dinner, the French way. Late, on the terrace, not rushed.
Night life, the fun part. Music, people dancing, talking and strolling the night away. The perfect places to celebrate the present moment.
Beautiful sunsets.
I‘m hoping we’ll be in Nice, France summer 2027. If not, we will be back San Diego, a perfect place in the states to celebrate the end of summer!Â
